“We are delighted to be celebrating our fifth year of existence by performing one of the most memorable collections of pieces ever played by any chamber orchestra.
This season we are bringing to Colorado at least two premieres: the outstanding Concerto for Horn and Strings by Juilliard faculty member Eric Ewazen and When Beings of Fire Sang Praises with Beings of Clay by Boulder’s own Richard Toensing, who dedicated this wonderful work to our ensemble. Indeed, these musical gems will make our fifth season one to remember for years. I expect that our holiday-concert performance of Kurt Atterberg’s beautiful Suite for Violin and Viola will also prove to be a “Gift of Music.” These and other new, uncharted musical landscapes are perfectly mixed with better-known selections that will brighten our season with a glow of familiarity and comfort. The highlight of our season will be Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante, performed by two amazing talents from our own backyard—concertmaster Annamaria Karacson and that greatest of violists Geri Walther—while Joseph Suk’s String Serenade, Verdi’s String Symphony, and Beethoven’s 2nd Symphony will serve as the pillars for a fantastic architectural design put together by the true masters and architects of music—the ICONS.”
